My Paintings, Photos, Practical tips

This page is meant to entertain you.

Every week I will try to post a useful tip which I myself have tried and tested. This means it will work!

In some of my blogs I will use photos of nature which I have snapped myself. As these may not be complete or may be
drawn on in my blog, you can see the full versions of all these photos here.

Also, I happen to be a secret artist! Some of my paintings can be found on this page.

TIP 1 - Onion the bad boy!

Have you noticed that when you chop onion or garlic your finger tips tend to retain this smell for hours no matter how many times you wash them?

Solution:
Immediately after you have finished your chopping, turn
on the cold tap and just let the cold water run over your
finger tips.
DO NOT rub your fingertips together under the water, just
hold them under the flowing water. When drying, pat dry instead of rubbing dry. Easy! And no odour any more!
Gone! Try it! This really works.

ART GALLERY OF ROZ's WORK

I first started drawing as a teenager. Over time
this progressed to painting with oils. I painted
my first picture at age 26 and have tried to keep
this hobby alive ever since.

Painting kind of takes me out of my self. I put music
on, get my brushes ready and totally emerge myself
in the creative process.

                                                                                        "Boats in the night"

This is one of my
earlier paintings.
The technique is
oil on canvas.
I love painting
contrasts between
dark and light.

Yes you've guessed it.
I'm a big Caravaggio fan!

"Just a boy"

This was one of my earlier
paintings too.

I wanted to experiment
with monochrome and
the face of this young
boy gave me the
perfect subject!

                                                     "The peppers"
The Mediterranean always has such happy, bright colours
surrounding its food culture. Here a vivid reminder.

                                 "Lazy afternoon in England"
The English countryside can be beautiful. Cornfields with a backdrop of intense blue
sky are especially rewarding to portray in terms of colour and contrast.

       "Apples n'pears"

In Spain this type of painting
is called a 'Bodegón'
something which implies a
subject painted in a back
room with limited light
available.

In Italy it would probably be
called a "Natura Morta" which
literally translated means
Nature dead. With this it is
meant that the subjects
portrayed (in this case fruit)
are no longer growing and
therefore dead.

In English this is a "Still life"
Isn't it strange how three
European countries can have
completely different ways of
categorizing one style of
painting?

"Bird's eye view of cliffs and sea"
Experimenting with perspective can also be something to try at least once
if you're an artist. It forces you to think in a different way. I found with this
stark and wild panorama of sea and cliffs that this worked well.

             Peek-a-boo

I love flowers. They're somehow so perfect and so innocent all at the same time. To examine them is to see hope.

Corpus Christi, Texas, US - Night Bridge
I was amazed by the colour of the night sky here and the silhouette the
bridge created.  Just couldn't help myself. I had to snap it! Even the
moon looks like it's smiling serenely.

Shiny and bright
I see these petals as a promise of renewal, sunlight and
innate beauty; best pondered on a lazy afternoon when
there is time to observe nature at its best .

             Crimson is as crimson does
This explosion of crimson is cheeky and cheerful all
at the same time. It exists because it dares to!
                                                                                                                     Heaven, I'm in heaven
And here we have the source of all these beautiful blooms. The Botanical Gardens of Leuven, Belgium. A stroll here is very soothing to the mind. Try it if you're ever in the area!
I'll have a Tripel Karmeliet please!
This one's for you BEB!
The photo you see is the Old Market. It is the place to chill on a warm night and if you feel
so inclined (which most people do) it is also the place where you can savour authentic
Belgian Beer, which is known world-wide for its excellence on the palate. CHEERS!!
